About Kozłowiecki Landscape Park

Established in 1979, Kozłowiecki Landscape Park (Kozłowiecki Park Krajobrazowy) encompasses approximately 90 square kilometers of predominantly forested terrain centered around the Kozłowiecki Forest in Lublin Voivodeship, Poland. The park's landscape features gently rolling hills, small rivers and streams, as well as peat bogs and meadows, creating a mosaic of habitats that support a wide array of flora and fauna. The forest is dominated by mixed stands of pine, spruce, oak, and beech, providing essential nesting grounds for many bird species, including woodpeckers and owls. Mammals such as roe deer, wild boar, foxes, and European beavers also inhabit the park.

Visitors to Kozłowiecki Landscape Park can explore an extensive network of marked hiking and cycling trails winding through peaceful woodlands and past historical landmarks like remnants of World War II fortifications and old settlement sites. The park is especially appealing in spring and autumn when seasonal changes paint the forest in vivid colors and migratory birds pass through. Photography enthusiasts are drawn to the variety of landscapes and wildlife. Recreational activities are predominantly low impact, including hiking, birdwatching, mushroom foraging, and educational nature walks organized by local environmental groups. Due to its proximity to the city of Lublin, the park is also a popular destination for locals seeking natural respite. Conservation efforts within the park focus on maintaining the natural forest structure, protecting wetlands, and preserving rare plant species. Its combination of ecological value and recreational appeal makes Kozłowiecki Landscape Park a notable gem of eastern Poland’s natural heritage.
